Many questions

Post by frantsuz62 » Sat Sep 07, 2024 3:33 pm

Over 3 days of use, several questions have accumulated...

1.I use a laptop ( Huawei D14. Ryzen 5 , 8gb memory,) with an external sound card (Bomge BMG22). When I select the delay Exclusive WASAPI, I get a wheezing sound, with another option ( Shared WASAPI)it sounds normal, but I'm not sure about the delay (almost none or still there is a small one)
When I set ASSIO4all, the same rattling sound...

2. About my custom sounds
I downloaded the set from the site (Aerodrums+Samples+Pack+1)- it is in .dmg format...I didn't understand how to install it.
I downloaded a large number of samples (got confused with them) and when converting them into elements, the result is so-so... Apparently I didn't distribute them into folders quite correctly (I understood that each wav sample should be in a separate folder?)-It would be nice to have a detailed, step-by-step instruction (with one example - in pictures), especially for HiHat.
By the way - is the number of elements limited in volume? It seemed to me that not all the elements that I made were recorded..
It would be great if you could have the ability to download 5 different snare drums - Rock, Electro, Hip-Hop, Disco, Pop. And of course Kick and Toms. You can already find the cymbals yourself.
Maybe someone from the community has already gone through this thorny path and can share the element files (maybe for a small fee) that would be great.
3.About the songs
I didn't find how to make it so that only one song plays (Plays the entire list)

I also found this problem - In the volume selection menu - it is very difficult (almost impossible) to press the "Done" button - it is located extremely far to the left and it is very difficult to reach it with a marker

Still, a full overview of the program is missing
Sorry for the amateurish questions( not all great hackers) and my English (I wrote through a translator)
Otherwise, everything is great!

1) I know it wont help you, but never buy a sound card witch doesn’t come with it’s proprietary ASIO drivers. (I’m speaking for Windows computers!) They are liars when they say on their web site that you don’t need drivers. For Windows you need always to install ASIO drivers, witch is still the standard for music production with Windows computers. The only thing they can offer is WASAPI support like any other multimedia sound card.
Make sure to set the good parameters for your sound card (44,1 kHz / 24 ou 16 bits). If you are playing with ASIO4All put the ASIO buffers to something around 128 samples.
Anyway, you shouldn’t feel any noticeable latency!

2) You have downloaded the wrong package. dmg is for Mac.
Here are the links for Windows:

Brush samples
https://fc-distribution.s3.us-west-2.am ... amples.exe

Samples-pack 1
https://fc-distribution.s3.us-west-2.am ... pack-1.exe

2b) Yes, for your samples you need to create a folder for each instrument and put articulations in sub folders of the same folder before Aerodrums can do it’s magic.

3) Me too, but I don’t care.

4) For instant you have this:

https://aerodrums.com/manual/
https://aerodrums.com/faq/

In the playlists of my Aerodrums channel you can find reviews, how-tos and other things about Aerodrums.

Thank you very much for the answer Wolfgang.
Well, of course I read the instructions, but as a newbie in this business (actually I'm a guitarist) I would like more precise explanations (with pictures-examples) how many and what samples I should put in the folder to get decent sounds...
And thanks for the link to the set (I'm a clown - I got it mixed up) - that's something

There is another question... If I install Aerodrums on another computer, do I just need to copy 2 folders (conf and data) to the other computer to save my entire database?

how many and what samples I should put in the folder to get decent sounds…
Because you are asking, are your samples one-shot- or multi-velocity samples? In case of one-shots you put one instrument sample into one folder. But it wont sound good, nor natural. What you need to look for are multi-velocity samples. For each instrument you would have a bunch of wav samples covering nuances from very soft to very loud. Same for each sub folder (articulations) like left/right hand, Hi-Hat openness and foot splash, etc. How many? Normally the more, the better. I don’t know if there is a limit in Aerodrums, but up to 60 samples par articulation should be OK.
If I install Aerodrums on another computer, do I just need to copy 2 folders (conf and data) to the other computer to save my entire database?
I wouldn’t do that! To export your kits just copy drumkits and elements to the other computer.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerodrums\conf\drumkits
C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerodrums\data\elements
If you have personalised Midi-maps in C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerodrums\conf\midi-maps you can copy them too.
But be careful with aerodrums.cfg because there are computer specific parameters in there.
