Thank you for posting the link.

Freedrum uses gyroscopes/accelerometers (IMU for short). We have tested it (using Intel's Curie chip and the assistance of some of Intel's engineers) and concluded that drum sticks undergo too much acceleration for it to allow fast and accurate drumming. The fact that IMUs can report orientation, but not reliable position, is an issue in drumming, for example to distinguish between a snare and a high tom. So we believe Freedrum will only be able to allow limited drumming expressiveness.

It's great to see more people advocating air drumming though.

We are aiming to release a beta of the VR / 3D mode for Aerodrums late January. It's going to be good:)

Edit February 21, 2022 Sadly after seeing all the crowd funding campaigns from Freedrum and others who keep on promising something their technology can't deliver. I've changed my mind and I now think these IMU based products wrongly lead people to believe air drums can't work, instead of raising awareness around air drumming. I finally wrote up what we found when we implemented this technology (before any of these products launched), you can read it here: https://aerodrums.com/aerodrums-vs-free ... ocketdrum/
