I played around with it some more last night and figured out that I can only play the (same number of) drums in SSD as are present in the kit that is set up at any given time in Aerodrums, thus triggering the corresponding ones in SSD. If I added drums to the kit, e.g. a 2nd floor tom, it would trigger the correct drum in SSD so it seems like Wolfgang’s keymap is working ok.
Using this approach I will have to build a custom kit in AD that matches all the drums in SSD. I’m pretty sure every kit has more or less the same number and type of drums so my custom AD kit should work across the board. The main problem I had with this was fitting all the drums in a playable layout as there are a lot of them in the SSD kits and they were overlapping in AD, making it very hard to play without triggering neighbouring drums. However, it was just a quick first attempt so hopefully when I do it more thoroughly it should work out ok. I will either clone an existing kit or try the SSD4 keymap as you suggest.
I think this is probably the easiest way to do it as I’ve already begun the process but I will take a look at your suggested options as well. If I do need more explanation I will certainly come back here and ask. Thank you for the offer.
You will probably get that I am not a drummer! I will have to sit down and learn in order to make the best use of your amazing product.
Best, Mark
Hi, Mark!
Did you have a result of your process?
Could you share with your midi map for SSD5 please?
Thanks!
Best wishes in New Year!
Andrew

Hi Andrew. I haven’t made any more progress on this as yet but as soon as I have anything to report or share, I will do so.
