Using a VST, I can use a choked crash, but if I'm playing multiple cymbals and use that choked crash, all the others will continue to sound. Would it be possible to create a sample so that all the cymbals are muted? It would be a sample with specific instructions or commands to mute them all at the same time.
Can you understand? I'll leave a video of me playing with this; don't mind my crazy look.

Crash Cymbal Chokes
Re: Crash Cymbal Chokes
Hi, we haven't looked in much detail at how various drum VSTs handle choking so achieving what you describe might be very dependent on the plugin.
For example, I think some VSTs will choke all cymbals in response to receiving a particular MIDI note. Whereas for other VSTs, each cymbal will have its own choke note.
We do plan to add choking support to Aerodrums 2 in the near future. The way this will (likely) work is that you move your hand close to a cymbal to choke it and that action will trigger a particular MIDI note that you can configure.
If you let me know which VST you are using, I can have a look to see if what we plan to do will be enough to solve your problem.

Re: Crash Cymbal Chokes
Thanks again for the quick reply, Richard.
I'm glad to know that there will be a future possibility of moving your hand closer and being able to choke on the Crash Cymbals.
In this video, I used the Ezd3 (Ezdrummer 3).

Re: Crash Cymbal Chokes
Ok, so it looks like EZdrummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3 support adding cymbal chokes in two ways:
1) Cymbal note followed by a choke note at the time you want to choke to occur - this provides more control but I believe they just quickly fade out the cymbal sound to simulate the sound of the choke
2) Mute-cymbal-hit note where the choke occurs immediately - in this case they play a recording of a cymbal actually being choked
We will need to do a survey of what options other drum VSTs support before deciding what we will implement.
But about your original question, it looks like you have set up an Aerodrums 2 MIDI map to send a mute-cymbal-hit note when a particular cymbal is hit. It is unfortunate that EZdrummer 3 doesn't automatically fade out ringing crashes from previous hits when the choke occurs (unless there is a setting?) so I guess the way we would need to fix this is to also send a choke note in addition to the mute-cymbal-hit note. We will keep this in mind when we're developing the feature.
A different approach that would probably work for you now is to have a piece in your kit that sends the choke note when hit, i.e. using option (1). This would mean that you would hit your crash cymbal and then if you want to choke it you would need to hit a separate piece that emits the choke note. It's not ideal but it would fix the original problem you were having.
