Hi,
I'm really enjoying the product, I actually bought it several years ago, almost as a novelty, but I've started playing about with recording in Reaper, and as I can generally only do this later on, it's great to have a quiet solution.
One of the things I'm struggling with is the hi hat setup. It doesn't seem to be responding very well to my foot control. Sometimes it will be half or fully open when my foot is fully down or closed when my foot is lifted. I also have to be very deliberate when I want the cymbals to wash, which doesn't feel "natural". I have seen videos of people playing and it always seems to sound very natural and responsive. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or if my expectations are not right. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi hat setup
Re: Hi hat setup
The first thing you can try is to turn the foot reflector towards the camera. Another thing I found out (at least for myself) was, that I had to do two or tree hits with my foot before starting to play, like it would need some calibration.
I don’t understand what you mean with “wash the cymbals”.

Hi Wolfgang,
Thanks for the response. I'm going to try that "calibration".
I don't know how else to describe the half open to close sound other than washing, I've always called it that.
Will let you know how I get on.

I’ve tried Google to find something about “washing the cymbals” and found many, many infos how to clean them, but I think you’re speaking about this foot technique:

This would be very hard to do with Aerodrums 1 (at least it was for me). The hihat in Aerodrums 1 works best heel down, everything else I didn’t find natural.
Aerodrums 2 works much better for this. But, however, bear in mind that you won't have a spring to help with this.
