Hi-Hat Openness - Default, Addictive Drums and Iguana Drums

Hi there,
Been playing with Aerodrums 2 for a month or so (I also had AeroDrums 1). I find that the hi-hat opens too quickly, or I don't have much room between closed, loose and open. Is this something that can be adjusted? I'm using Aerodrums to trigger Addicitive Drums and I can make some adjustments on the VST software, but it seems that the default setting is means that my left foot movements need to be extremely subtle and the margin is super thin between a closed hat, a sloppy hat and a fully open one.
I also tried to use AeroDrums 2 with this really great sounding drum library Iguana Drums Karma Edition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p38afPA_xWk
For some reason I can't get the hi-hat to close when I bring my toe down. I also have to hit it with my stick to get it to close rather than "stomping" it closed after hitting it while it's open.
Any help or advice much appreciated!
