Cant initialize audio device on Mac
Hi what could be going on where it cant initalize audio device on a mac? I even tried a reinstall.
Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
That's quite odd. This is the first time we've heard of this happening on a Mac. If you had a DAW or other software running at the time you launched Aerodrums I would reboot and try it again before running any other applications.
If you have time it would good if you could download and run the free audio editor 'Audacity' (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/) to see if it also has audio issues. Aerodrums uses the same audio engine as Audacity so if the audio in Audacity is also broken, that would suggest an issue with the audio libraries we're using (assuming audio works fine in all your other software).

Yeah its beyond strange and nothing else has changed. I usually use Aerodrums on a dedicated mac. I haven't used it on this mac since the summer. I do have audacity on here and will try it now.

Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
so audacity does work on my computer. It may have been updated sometime between now and the summer. What should I do?
Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
So when you try to run Aerodrums it pops up an error message saying it's unable to initialize an audio device?
Does it let you select any audio devices from the Latency screen after that point?
Also, in case you're not set to "No MIDI" on the MIDI screen, can you set it to no MIDI and see if it makes any difference.

Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
Im a veteran Aerodrummer of several years so I played with all of the settings. I think maybe you are on to something with audacity. Its really the only thing i can think of. It doesn't show any audio devices on the latency screen. I have tried unplugging all usb hubs and other peripherals. Its very odd. I think i will try to uninstall audacity and aerodrums. How can I make sure both are completely off the system?

Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
Sorry for the delay. I'm a bit stumped with this one. Have you tried to run our Aered software (https://aerodrums.com/get-aered/) on your Mac? It also uses the same audio engine as Aerodrums.
Since Audacity works for you, I'm wondering if perhaps our audio libraries need to be updated to the latest version to support more recent MacOS changes for example. What version of MacOS are you running?

Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
Im on Catalina. I believe it was working this summer. I tried Aered and tried to have it make some kind of sound, but not sure if I was doing it right.
Is there a way to try an earlier version of Aerodrums ?

Re: Cant initialize audio device on Mac
Sorry I should have instructed you on how to get some sound out of Aered. The easiest way is to click the Preferences button on the left, then click the Audio tab in the top left, then click the Enabled button under Click Track and then click Close. Now press 'p' (or click the green play button) to start playback. You should hear the metronome clicks. If you try it again and you don't hear any sound then please let me know.
I will PM you now about trying an older version.
