Aerodrum 2 is refusing to start / restart

Post by steull6163 » Sun May 24, 2026 9:07 pm

Aerodrum 2 is suppost to start by a longer press on the button. This does not work anymore.
In order to start the device I have to remove and reconnect the power.
Sometimes even that does not have any effect and I have to wait like a minute before the reconnection to the power leads to starting the device.
My impression is that the device needs some time to shut down (even with the power cable removed).
On my mac both the wifi and the bluetooth connections remain connected for ~30 seconds after removing the power cable.

These problems didn't exist when I received the device. Meanwhile I started using the device supplied by a power bank.
I am using an
_ Anker Prime Powerbank with 20V, 20Ah, PD3 (https://www.anker.com/eu-en/products/a1 ... 8669309118)
together with an
_ 100W USB3-to-CD-19V Adapter (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0CH1H43V6?ref ... title&th=1)
which conforms to the specifications and worked very well until today.

Hi, I'm sorry for the delay. We haven't seen this particular issue before - I have sent you a private message. Thanks

I have this same issue, did you manage to get it sorted with OP? I am using the provided power supply.

Sorry for the delay in replying - are you still having an issue? If so, can you describe what happens when you press the power button?

Hi, no problem, thanks for replying!

Yes, I am still having this issue, although it is quite inconsistent. Basically, sometimes when I press the power button the light on the Aerodrums blinks very briefly, and then shuts off. Subsequent presses of the power button do nothing, and I need to unplug and replug the Aerodrums. Oftentimes when I do, the Aerodrums actually turns itself on, seemingly power cycles, and then starts working. Sometimes I need to repeat this process multiple times, although it seems that the advice given in the OP to wait before reconnecting does seem to mitigate that.

Sometimes the behavior is slightly different, like the power button doesn't work at all, and sometimes it does seemingly start, but does not communicate with anything (apparently going into a hung state), requiring another unplug/replug.

Thanks for the information. Could I ask you a few more questions:
1. After powering on the device, did you check if you can drum (or connect to the Aerodrums 2 app) even though the green LED is not lit?
2. Have you used a power bank with your Aerodrums 2 device in the past?
3. Did you attempt a factory reset of the device yet? (It could be that something in the software got corrupted by power being removed at the wrong time)

SO CRAZY!! I've been using my Aerodrums 2 for weeks now. I've played three gigs with them and no problem. I went to play this afternoon to practice and everything is jacked up. The power button doesn't work. I have to unplug the power and plug it back in for it to work. I can't get into the app because it says waiting for connection. Quite frustrating when you pay that kind of $$ and after several weeks everything goes south! What now????? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input

I'm sorry you're having these issues. I will get back to you again after I discuss this with my colleagues but can I ask you:
1. Have you been using your Aerodrums 2 with a power bank?
2. Have you attempted a factory reset yet?
3. When the device does boot up, is the Aerodrums-XXXX hotspot network visible on your phone or computer?
4. When the device is booted, does the power button work to turn the device off?

Plugging it straight into the wall. I did do the factory reset. It seems all this started when I selected the connect as Hotspot. It didn't like that at all. That's when things went sideways! My app just kept trying and trying to connect. I ended up turning off my home internet to allow it to connect as a Hotspot. Then I deselected the Hotspot connect in the app. And let it reconnect using my home internet. That seems to have fixed it. Now the power button and everything works as it should. I've powered it down and back up 10 or twelve times and all seems right with world! I was starting to get very nervous there for a while. I'll go in and practice in about an hour and make sure everything is still good. So strange, though. Thank you for your quick response. I absolutely love my Aerodrums2.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. To answer your questions:

1. I don't think I've tried this. I tried recreating it, but it's intermittent, so I haven't been able to yet. I'll try to remember to test it next time it happens and get back to you here.
2. No. If my memory serves me, I've only ever used the power source that was bundled with the device.
3. I think I did this back a while ago, and it did stop this problem for a while. However, this was quite a while ago, so I can't fully remember. All I do know is that I've had this problem more often than not. I'll try it again as soon as I've gotten to test point 1.
