Bluetooth audio - Audio output

Post by RubinS » Sat May 17, 2025 6:57 am

Hi guys,
Love playing my AD2 and playing along to tunes, streaming from my iPhone.
Just wondering if for anyone else the sound quality of the Bluetooth audio via the Aux output is “tinnie” especially the higher frequencies?
Quality level is high on the phone and sounds much better direct to phone, so must be something in the audio conversion hardware,or tied to the identified wifi signal interference?? Just wondering if others have the same issue?
Other threads talk about USB-C audio output in the future which will probably address this issue.
Just can’t seem to fix with the current setup and adjusting the volumes. Still works fine, just like to listen to everything in highest quality possible.
Keep up the great work Aerodrums!

Tried using the line-input from my iPhone using an external dongle DAC (Moondrop Dawn) and much better quality music playback.
Aerodrums suggested potentially some some degradation due to bit rate conversion for live streaming (which sounds to be a complex topic in its own right).
Seems there are ways to improve and will come down to priorities and time. For now, an extra cable is fine using line input. Will just be more convenient with Bluetooth streaming (works fine, I just prefer the highest res). Or as mentioned earlier, maybe USBC audio addresses a few of these issue and may provide highest possible res output, allowing for external DAC.
Anyone else experienced this or have thoughts, especially for a studio / recording environment?
