Hi everyone from Italy, i buy Aerodrums two days ago and i think it's the best buying over 150€ in almost 5 year.
I m having so much fun, my super scared dog is sleeping while i'm playng. Thank you for the Great idea.
I just want to ask: i play as the topic says, left hand on charleston qnd right foot kick (open harmed), and i would know if you have any suggestion about setting drums.
I also notice after a long rolling Aerodrums change LH with RH.
Thanks again, i will follow your updates
I try to attach my actual setting

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry but I didn't quite understand what the issue is with your setup. Could you explain in more detail? Feel free to email me your drum kit .ini file (or a screenshot of your setup) to richard.lee@aerodrums.com

About the LH/RH swapping, this can happen occasionally when one drumstick marker occludes the other from the point of view of the camera. It will normally correct itself quickly. Since the sticks are identical, Aerodrums has to figure out itself which hand is which and sometimes it makes mistakes. When this happens Aerodrums will trigger LH samples when it should have triggered RH samples or vice versa. The difference between these samples is subtle so it's not usually noticeable.

Hi Richard, thanks for your answer..!
I solve my setup just putting the ride in my left side and keep other pieces in original position (hope my poor englsh is clear) sorry if i maybe wrongly explained this.

The LH/RH question is still giving me LITTLE problems sometimes, when it happens as you probably know the sound change, the snare lose power and so the groove (at that time) and i have to wait until next rolling to return to normal LH/RH. I hope that could exist a way to keep LH/RH constantly but i already know that the way the system works doesn't allow this.
Maybe two different reflecting sticks could solve the problem, but i think that it's more complicated in a software meaning.
I work in a copystore in wich we have some reflecting (printable) material here in Florence. I try just to put in front of the camera this material and it works perfectly. But of course in the same way of the sticks that i have with my kit..!
Maybe this will be a thing to work on in the future, i don't know..! :)
After this i want to say (again) how much fun i have with your great idea and how you can learn to play drums (yes, i see clear improvements in a few days). And the fast answers you give to all of us tells me i make the right choice So, thanks again and keep in touch.

@ Agoman
Hi. There shouldn't be any difference in sound when this happens, at least something you can hear. I have just tried, I've played 8th notes R/L just on the snare alternateing normal playing with crossing my arms every measure and whilst indicators change on the second 8th note after changing, I can not hear any difference in sound or intensity. I think you've stumbled on something else.

@ Richard
Hi Richard. Wouldn't it be more appropriate if you replace right handed / left handed in the first setup-screen with right footed / left footed ? (I don't know ether if this is the good term in English)
Because there is no reason a right handed drummer have to play on a right footed setup, same for left handed drummers. The most known example of a left handed drummer who plays the bass drum with his right foot is Billy Cobham. And Daniel Humair who is right handed and plays his bass drum with his left foot.

Or you could offer 4 profiles:
right handed / right footed → actual right handed profile
left handed / left footed → actual left handed profile
left handed / right footed → actual right handed profile but cymbal and crash inverted
right handed / left footed → actual left handed profile but cymbal and crash inverted.
Just my 2 cents

@Wolfgang
Hi, trust me, The difference in the snare is clear when you play a groove. But it is just a little problem in a wonderful experience.

Hi Agoman, it's not that I don't believe you, but I mean you shouldn't hear any difference in sound or intensity and if it's your case maybe you've encountered another problem. It's something I can't reproduce with my Aerodrums, but I've a midi setup.
Do you have an example on a particular lick or sticking when this happens?
Or could you try this on your snare:
1) play LRLRLRLR
2) then without stopping cross your arms placing your left hand on the right side of your right hand
3) play LRLRLRLR
4) reverse to normal playing and restart at 1)
Try to do this several times. You should see indicators flipping after each change. Can you hear a difference in sound when they are flipping?

Back to your first post. You say you're playing your hi-hat armed open, may I ask you why?
Which profile you choose in the beginning (left or right hand profile)?

Sorry for the delay replying to this. It's been a very busy few days at NAMM.

@ Wolfgang
Thanks. It would make most sense to add additional preset kits for the "profiles" you listed. We'll look at adding this.
For clarity and from what I remember, here is what changes when you select right-handed vs. left-handed in Aerodrums:
- changes whether (LH) or (RH) kits are shown on Drum kits screen
- defines dominant hand when triggering samples
- changes positioning of Menu button on drumming screen

@ Agoman
If you can reproduce the noticeable-difference-in-sound-when-hands-swap issue, it would be great if you can record an audio clip (using the recording feature built into Aerodrums or otherwise) and share it so that we can better understand what you're saying.
