AD2 White Noise (static) on headphones

I don't know if it was because of the v4 update I just applied, but the noise on the heaphones is quite loud and distracting. I don't recall it being this loud pre update, but at the same time it's always been there.

Are there any known workarounds?

Hello,

are you using the jack line-in socket to play along to songs?

If so, there could be noise coming in that way, does the noise change whether your playback device is connected to mains or not?

If not, your Aerodrums 2 device may be in a mode where it sinks there is a line-in jack connected, and this adds noise when it's not the case. While the device is on, could you plug a jack in the line-in socket, wait 2 seconds then unplug it?

It is not possible that updates made a difference.

That fixed it. I don't recalling having this problem before though (I don't use my AD2 much). Perhaps I was mistakenly plugging into the line input first and then plugging into the headphones. I remember doing that a few times. Now I started plugging the headset into the bottom of AD2 before I put it on the stand and I absolutely must plug into the line-in jack to reduce the white noise. That brings the noise down to bearable again. Though I hope you understand that even the reduced amount of noise is not acceptable in a high quality device. You likely need to add a choice selection of parts and improve the pcb layout.

There should be a firmware fix to stop the line input from being connected. It might be as simple as patching the driver (assuming it's linux), I can reply privately if you're interested. Alternately there is a probably a simple amixer command to turn off the line input in the boot scripts.
