reccomend usb soundcard and headphones for aerodrums

Post by rainsoul » Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:39 am

as mentioned in title, can someone recoomend a usb soundcard with good sound quality and exclusive wasapi support and some headphones with good sound for drumming in aerodrums. hopefully without breaking the bank. I recently got aerodrums and i am very impressed but my bad luck is that my audioquest dragonfly black soundcard somehow does not allow exclusive wasapi with this software. i got a couple of super cheap sound cards which are able to utilize the exclusive wasapi option within aerodrums but sound quality is terrible. especially the bass drum sounds awful.

so anyone happy with a usb soundcard and some headphone, in terms of latency and sound quality (i do have decent earphones so headphones are not a priority at the moment but still something i am looking into), please let me know what you are using. i really cannot buy something super expensive. so keep that in mind. many thanks

I’m using since 2015 exclusively Behringer U-Control sound-cards with Aerodrums. They are working with wasapi, but I think they are much better with the old ASIO driver from Behringer. I have 4 of them:

behringer u-control UCA202 (with optical output)
&
behringer U-PHONO UFO202 (with phono input)

behringer XENYX QX1202USB (mixer 12 to 2, with effects)

behringer UMA25S (midi controller keyboard)

They all are using the same driver, which works very well with Windows 10, but isn’t available any more on the actual website (today there is only a link to Asio4all)

The original driver was

BEHRINGER_2902_X64_2.8.40

With this one you can even use more than one ASIO application in the same time!

I’ve found a working link to it in this forum topic

EDIT 2023/12/06
The link is dead. If you need this driver, read what I've written in this forum post About USB sound-cards
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7229&p=42744&hilit= ... .40#p42744

With this one I can have an input latency of 3ms on a 10 Years old HP-Probook with Celeron processor and Intel graphics. The two first ones you can find for around 20€.

I have exactly the same as Wolfgang...UCA 202....also a Xenyx 302...both really easy to use and super-portable units 👍.

Cheers!
