Hi. I have just bought this and I think it's brilliant although it takes a bit of getting used to.

I was wondering if you could put the light in a different place to the camera or does it always have to fix onto the camera. As long as you are getting enough light would it work okay.

Hello,

thanks for purchasing Aerodrums, don't miss Richard's video about rebound, it will help you make the most of Aerodrums ( http://aerodrums.com/2014/01/aerodrums- ... d-rebound/ )

The balls work like the reflectors at the back of cars: they reflect light towards where it's coming from, so it is necessary for the light to be on the camera.

To make the light less visible when you drum, you can place your screen further apart from it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm playing Aerodrums on my main computer with the camera / light off to one side. I would like to play facing square to the screen rather than facing the camera. I thought I could put the camera under the screen with the light off to the side.

I'll try it when I get time and post the results.

Regarding the light. With the light switched off, I can focus the camera to the far setting ( clockwise right) and my image is in pretty clear focus relative to the overlay of the example person sitting in a chair (drawing).

However, when i turn on the light in noticed that the camera gets much fuzzier and seems to be washing out what it is seeing. ( me sitting in the chair holding my drumsticks)

Is this normal and does it affect aerodrums ability to properly track the motion of the reflectors?

Thanks,

Marc

It is normal, the blur has a positive effect on the tacking algorithm (in fact if it wasn't there we'd apply it in software, which costs computing power). It is unfortunate that it has an impact on the visuals during the seat placement stage of setup.
The Aerodrums lamp doesn't have to be on at that stage, and you can also use any lighting that makes it easier to understand the picture of your room when framing the seat, provided you turn it off once you've framed the seat if Aerodrums complains that there is too much light.
