Rockband 3

Post by Hoffmann » Mon Mar 09, 2015 9:33 pm

Hi,

I haven't bought the kit yet,but it's a matter of weeks before I do :-)

I hope to use it for the Playstation 3 game Rockband 3 as Pro Drums, which accepts MIDI drums.
I'm just not sure how to get the MIDI feed from the computer to the MIDI input on the Rockband gadget?
I assume I need to get a sound card with MIDI out, but is it as easy as that?

Thanks!

Hello there. It is an interesting question, has anyone else done it?

In theory, once you have a physical MIDI out device (e.g. USB to MIDI adapter), all you need is a driver that will open a software MIDI port for you to select within Aerodrums, and forward the notes it receives to the physical MIDI out plug.

If the driver doesn't expose a port but provides an interface to select an existing port to listen on, you can always use a virtual MIDI cable like the Mac's IAC or LoopBe1 on Windows.
