Drum VST plugins support

Post by jaxlrose » Sat Mar 02, 2019 12:37 pm

Hi there,

Is it possible to integrate third-party VST drum kits or my own drum samples with AeroDrums if I'd want to expand my pool of options for getting diverse sounding drums down the road?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, both options are possible.

You can set Aerodrums to output MIDI notes which can trigger VST drum kits.
There is more information about this here:
https://aerodrums.com/using-aerodrums-w ... -samplers/

Or you can create new drum pieces within Aerodrums by pointing it to folders of .wav files.
See here: https://aerodrums.com/manual/#making-new-drums

Thanks for the update. One more question, are VST and AU plugins on this list compatible with Aerodrums: https://techraver.com/free-drum-vst-plugins/

Or, do I have to manually check each plugin on that list and figure out their compatibility for instance, 32-bit or 64-bit VSTs?

Generally speaking they should all be compatible with Aerodrums, provided you set things up so that the MIDI output from Aerodrums is routed into the plugin. (Note that Aerodrums does not currently have the ability to host VST/AU plugins itself, so you will need another solution for that such as DAW.)

You will often need to do some plugin-specific configuration within the Aerodrums MIDI settings as well, such as creating a custom MIDI map so that, for example, when the floor tom is hit in Aerodrums, the correct MIDI note gets sent to trigger the floor tom within the VST/AU plugin.
