Just a question : Is it possible to replace webcam system by infrared system in thé future?
Thanks

Yes, it definitely is possible :) The reason this wasn't done in the current version of Aerodrums is because the USB camera we depend on has a filter that blocks IR light and there were no reasonable alternatives available.

So..... any news on this one? I just wrote you an email a few minutes ago. Then I saw your reply, so I keep my hopes up. ;-)

I too would welcome a system other than webcam so happy to hear it could be a possibility. I find the cabling from camera to computers a little untidy and also easy to unbalance the camera from the tabletop.

Hello also be interested in using infrared, anyone have any solution?
It would help a lot and it would be more comfortable without that reflector obfuscating our vision, although we can wear sunglasses ...
Would it be possible to replace the reflector LEDs with infrared LEDs?
Richard, are you guys working on something to improve this?
Hug to everyone!

We are working on a solution (and have been for a long time now) that will address both Viveur's and Michael's issues.

Good to hear your looking into this. I was an early user of Aerodrums and was very impressed with the system, but couldn't get on with the brightness of the ring light.

If you managed to get an infrared-based system working I'd buy Aerodrums in an instant :)

If you were able to come up with an IR solution would it possibly work with bright back-light?

It depends what you mean by bright back-light. With an IR approach, there are still potential issues with bright sunlight, reflections of strong lights off very specular objects and incandescent lighting. How good a job it does at preventing these issues depends on how bright the IR illuminator (the one that would be colocated with the camera) is and this is a matter of compromise. For example, there are motion capture systems that use this exact same approach but work perfectly fine outdoors in bright sunlight.
