Re: Steven Slate Drums 5.5
I did it many times, nothing happened again.
May be a free SSD5.5 doesn't work in vstHost.
So ok, I left it because of the time.

Re: Steven Slate Drums 5.5
I don’t think this has anything to do with your problem, I’ve used VSTHost with a lot of free and non free VSTs.
I’ve seen in your screenshot that you have installed SSD5 in C:\Program Files\VstPlugIns, so you should have the 64bit version of the plugin. Are you sure you are using vsthostostx64.zip? vsthostx86.zip will not work with your plugin.

You could also have a look on SAVIHost from the same developer. SAVIHost makes any VST plugin to be a standalone app. Unzip the file savihostXXX.zip, name it like your dll and put it in the same folder like the dll. In your case you would rename it to SSDSampler5.exe and put it beside SSDSampler5.dll. After you can create a shortcut from SSDSampler5.exe to your desktop.
You can find it here: https://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm
Be sure to chose the right variant. Before writing I’ve tried successfully savihostnkx64.zip (VST2, without keyboard). If your system is 32bit you need to take savihostnkx86.zip
Re: Steven Slate Drums 5.5
I know this is a very old thread but I am trying to set up SSD 5.5 with A. 1. I have downloaded Wolfgang's keymap (thanks!) and it seems to be working ok. However I can't play all the drums in the loaded kits, mostly the 4th tom and extra cymbals. Do I have to create a corresponding kit in Aerodrums first with the same number of pieces as the kit loaded in SSD? Or should the keymap take care of this?
Re: Steven Slate Drums 5.5
There are two ways you could go about making a MIDI map for SSD 5.5:
1) Set SSD to use its default map and use the Aerodrums MIDI map editor to create an SSD map
2) Set Aerodrums to use the Default MIDI map and set up a custom map in the SSD interface
Approach (2) is what Wolfgang has done. If some notes are misconfigured then you will need to see what MIDI note Aerodrums is sending when you hit that drum (you can try a website such as https://www.midimonitor.com/ to help figure that out) and then, in SSD, set the appropriate drum to trigger when SSD receives that same note.
With approach (1), I believe you would need to set SSD 5.5 to its default mapping by clicking on the 'Maps' button and then the 'Factory reset' button in the SSD interface. Then in Aerodrums you would need to create a custom SSD mapping. If you want to try this, I would start from the SSD 4 preset mapping that comes with Aerodrums and seeing what works and what doesn't. To fix any misconfigured drums, you would need to figure out what MIDI note SSD expects to receive to trigger a particular drum and then set that note in the Aerodrums MIDI map editor.
Let me know if you don't understand that and I will explain the steps in more detail.

Re: Steven Slate Drums 5.5
Hi Richard. Many thanks for your reply.
I played around with it some more last night and figured out that I can only play the (same number of) drums in SSD as are present in the kit that is set up at any given time in Aerodrums, thus triggering the corresponding ones in SSD. If I added drums to the kit, e.g. a 2nd floor tom, it would trigger the correct drum in SSD so it seems like Wolfgang’s keymap is working ok.
Using this approach I will have to build a custom kit in AD that matches all the drums in SSD. I’m pretty sure every kit has more or less the same number and type of drums so my custom AD kit should work across the board. The main problem I had with this was fitting all the drums in a playable layout as there are a lot of them in the SSD kits and they were overlapping in AD, making it very hard to play without triggering neighbouring drums. However, it was just a quick first attempt so hopefully when I do it more thoroughly it should work out ok. I will either clone an existing kit or try the SSD4 keymap as you suggest.
I think this is probably the easiest way to do it as I’ve already begun the process but I will take a look at your suggested options as well. If I do need more explanation I will certainly come back here and ask. Thank you for the offer.
You will probably get that I am not a drummer! I will have to sit down and learn in order to make the best use of your amazing product.
Best, Mark

Hi!
Does someone know- why I can't see MIDI input inside VSTHost ?
I can choose midi-output inside Aerodrums.
Thanks for any help!

Andrew

You will need to install a free program called LoopBe1 (https://www.nerds.de/en/download.html)
Once installed, go to the MIDI screen in Aerodrums and you will be able to select LoopBe as the port to which MIDI notes are sent.
Back in VSTHost you should be able to select LoopBe as the MIDI input from which notes are received.
