homemade hard tips
homemade hard tips
Hello, a few years ago when I bought Aerodrums I damaged my drumstick tips (I was a beginner drummer) so I made myself some homemade hard tip drumsticks, and they worked quite well. I have had them from 2022 to this day. Not long ago I saw that the Aerodrums 2 includes hard tips and that they are removable (the ones I made are fixed and glued), my question is the following, does anyone know what the internal material of the Aerodrums 2 balls could be? I would like to make some new tips that are removable. thank you

Re: homemade hard tips
hola a todos , feliz año nuevo . I already thought of a solution, first of all I thought about using eva rubber balls but I couldn't find them in my city, I tried rolling strips of eva rubber but it didn't work, so I used another material and it works perfectly, I made a video on how to do it the hard tips, I hope they are useful, greetings

Re: homemade hard tips
I just received my Aerodrums 2. If I had to guess, I'd say the balls are made in a way a lot like the video juanka792 (awesome job!) made. Except I don't think the shells used are PVA. There are two shells joined together. The shells are hard and don't deform. If I had to guess, they are polycarbonate. When the shells are joined they make a hollow ball. Inside the hollow balls are some kind of foam with a hole. It's what holds the ball onto the drumstick tip. The foam isn't magic eraser. And it's contoured.
This guy used Tama practice tips (TCP20) and some reflective strips to create a stick you can play on surfaces:

And because it's somewhat related, for playing on a surface:

But those aren't hard tips.
