Mac version

Post by Hampus » Sun Feb 09, 2014 1:23 pm

Hi,

I just wanted to ask if the current hardware is going to work with the planned Mac version of the app? Or are you considering changing the hardware to an all in-house solution by then? The authorization codes seem to come with package, will those also work with Mac version if I buy the kit now?

I'm considering using Vista in with boot camp as a temporary solution on the Mac.

Thanks for an extremely game-changing product!!

Kind regards,
Hampus

Hampus,

yes the Mac version will use the same hardware and the activation codes that come in the box. A Mac installer will be available from the website.

norhythm reported he has been able to run Aerodrums fine on a 2008 Mac Book pro using bootcamp and Windows 7, so that's definitely an option if you are impatient :)

thank you for your encouragement

Thanks for the fast reply!
Just ordered the kit :)

I'll try it in Vista with VirtualBox before using bootcamp. I'll let you know the results.

That's great, thank you.

I wouldn't hold my breath about VirtualBox because Aerodrums uses a custom driver for the camera, so VB would need to do an amazing job at hardware virtualization (from wikipedia, VB has a "closed-source extension pack [that] adds a USB 2.0 controller", you would need it). I'm really curious about your findings if you do try it.

I'm having difficulty with the mac version. My computer fulfills all the system requirements and I've installed everything fine. After going through the setup I click the "drum" section but no pieces of the drum kit appear. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello, it sounds like the samples have not been installed.
Did you download the disk image that uses the DVD (~47MB), or the one that doesn't (~890MB)?

If the first one, did you see a file copying dialog when you ran the "Aerodrums Samples" program contained in the disk image (by doing Ctrl + click and choosing "open" twice, due to current lack of software signing)?

In both cases, could you Ctrl + click the Aerodrums application and select "Show packagge contents", then browse to Contents/Resources/data and tell me if it contains an "elements" folder and if there are some ".ele" files in that folder?

I am sending you a pm.

I'm having the exact same problem. No drum patches are loaded and I can't understand what you are talking about in your reply.

The simpler solution in this case is to use the second installer (second link, bigger file).

We haven't tested Aerodrums on VirtualBox or Wine yet so I can't say how it behaves.
