Thank you. I did not think about that. I'll try it. But the tracking of Vive and Mixed Reality is completely different. How did you do this?

Hi Richard!

Can you possibly tell anything yet about this Android version which I am really waiting for?

How one should imagine it? Would it require something like the Google Cardboard? ;)

The non-VR Android version will be released soon and will look very similar to the PC/Mac version of Aerodrums 3D, i.e. you will see your drum kit in 3D on your phone/tablet, along with your tracked hands and feet.

For VR on Android, we will support Samsung Gear VR initially. Google Cardboard support will likely come later.

Is there a way we can subscribe to Aerodrums updates when things like the Aerodrums Stand is released? I would love to know when stuff like that becomes available! I was going to pursue getting a generic tripod and figuring out how to mount the PS camera on it, but now that I know you're coming up with a stand, I'll probably just wait until that's available.

Thanks!
Erik

I am not really sure that I understand correctly, what does a non-VR version mean?
It will be an absolutely independent Aerodrums instance only running on the phone utilizing its camera and flash or the main program still will be running on the PC although one will see the feedback on the display like in the 2D representation of the current software only this time in 3D but without Augmented Reality?

Sorry for bothering, and thanks for your reply ;)

@Erik We have a mailing list which you can sign up to by entering your email address at the bottom of aerodrums.com
We are in the process of revamping it so it hasn't been very active in a while but we will definitely be using it to make announcements about the Aerodrums stand.

@Fera What we call "Aerodrums 3D" is a free software add-on for the Aerodrums product. It is not a separate product and requires Aerodrums to be running on a PC or Mac in all cases. As such, it has no benefit from an audio perspective since Aerodrums continues to generate the audio. It is more about improved visuals (ability to see your drum kit in 3D instead of 2D like the current Aerodrums interface) and interaction (e.g. the ability to reposition your drums with a 3D interface).
Aerodrums 3D is a separate application that you run on your computer/tablet/phone and will communicate over the network with the Aerodrums application that is running on either the same computer or a different computer. So far it has been released for PC and Mac with the PC version supporting the Oculus Rift VR headset. Soon we will release versions for Android (including Gear VR) and iOS. If you own a supported VR device then you can use it to play drums in VR. If not, you can still run Aerodrums 3D and see a 3D view on your flat display. I hope that clarifies things - let me know if you have more questions.

It also lets you record performances and replay them in realtime without rendering to a video. We haven't decided yet if we will expose this through a user friendly user interface or if we will leave it command-line driven. In anyway case we plan to make it available soon.
+1 for features to record video alongside the recording. I've been scheming to make this happen lately so that I can post drum covers to youtube and share with friends. Also, would prefer it being a UI feature rather than command-line, even though as a programmer I'm comfortable working on the command line, its nicer when its just right there in your face.

Hello, Richard.

I just downloaded your 1.1 update and Aerodrums 3D and I was really surprised that Aerodrums3D is only x64 application. Is it possible to compile a x32 version too? Aerodrums 1.1 launch on x86 PC just fine BTW.

Thank you!

Richard,
Another question for you: can you disclose (or post brief description) of UDP protocol that Aerodrums 3D uses to communicate with Aerodrums 2D? The purpose of this would be to let other programmers issue their 3D modelling software for Aerodrums 2D on different platforms. This is not a huge problem to model a room or any other environment with 3D drumset for many programmers and that would open Aerodrums to the world of custom Augmented Reality applications either.

Thank you!
