old news tbh! haha. but is a good vid.
just before i saw that video i'd began planning up my own hybrid setup using a mesh head, it helped me to be more sure my direction would work out as his setup worked well - however I wanted to try to use real tips of sticks for playability - endedup up with reflectors straddling the stick so you can hit any head as normal with the tip.

Re: Another DIY project by someone in France
I'm a drum-teacher for more than 25 years now, and I was posting this for students or others who wants - or have to use Aerodrums seriously for their daily work.
I think Aerodrums has a great potential for practising drums and is completely underrated in this area, but there are several things you have to pay attention. One is rebound, and not for the reason most people are thinking at first.
A absolute beginner, who wants to start learning drums with just a set of Aerodrums and without knowing to handle rebounds risks, when he/she will play on a real set, to crush/press the sticks on the drums (I hope you understand what I mean) rather than hitting clean strokes.
And a system, like in the video, with just one or two elements could help!
PS
I would never again build me up a set like this (this remembers me too much how I was working in the second half of the eighties, but without Aerodrums nor triggers!)

Re: Another DIY project by someone in France
whats with the attack tone squire?
that video was posted here on this forum in a post a long time ago that was the reason for my joke.
one day difference and tbh I made one few days earlier which used hard reflective ball ends to allow user to hit surfaces, but I didn't like that as they affected the weight balance, so i moved on to polystyrene v light ones NEAR the end of the stick - far better. not that it matters, i said this guys vid spurred me on to do what i was thinking about doing.
i care not if noone talks about it, fact is it cost me one pair of sticks and some reflective material, and my mesh heads are now e-heads, and i can mix between air hits and real hits without calibration issues.
i get normal rebound as the tip falls unhindered.
its worth mentioning in a thread not to say its better etc. but for readers to see various options available - you know, it's clearly relevant to the discussion.
i know i'd rather hit a head with a drumstick, don't know about you.
