Visible Light LEDs

Post by nickynoodles » Thu Sep 24, 2015 5:20 pm

Hi,

Just ordered Aerodrums and already thinking about mods :)
I'd like to have a go at creating a visible light LED solution with ping-pong balls to diffuse, and integrating that with a couple of practice pedals.

The foot reflectors are rectangular; could you let me know if the software is optimised to track a rectangular light source (maybe that's how it differentiates between foot and hands) or if a ping-pong ball with a bright LED would do the same job for the feet.

I did note this post, viewtopic.php?f=2&t=335 .. so I'm pleased to know the concept works. I just wonder if you're losing tracking accuracy on the feet.

Thanks.

I attached the ping pong ball lights to the foot reflectors. No problem tracking there, as long as the light is diffused well enough and not intensively bright. I found my drumstick lights to be too bright so I've had to dull them down a bit as it was having difficulty tracking when I was hitting the snare. Once you cut the brightness of the led light down, the accuracy returns.
