Aerodrums VS XLN's Addictive Drummer

Post by BrettHeaslewood » Wed Jul 15, 2015 11:56 am

Morning!

Been a while since I've graced the forums.

I'm in a lazy mood and can't be bothered to try and find a solution - oh the joys of lazy internet browsing.

I'm at work at the moment, so can't test anything.

But how would one trigger Addictive Drummer with Aerodrums and record in Ableton?

Some specifics

- Win 8.1
- Aerodrums
- Addictive Drummer 2.0
- Ableton

All I remember is the need to do something with loopMIDI right?

Hope both, Sipaliwini & Richard and the rest of the team are doing well!

Hi Brett, it should be straightforward to set this up.

Here are the rough steps (you can find more detail in the manual):
1. Install LoopBe1.
2. Run Aerodrums. From the MIDI screen, select "MIDI Only" and choose the LoopBe port.
3. Run Ableton. In the Plug-ins category you should see Addictive Drums 2 in the list. Double-click this to add a MIDI track that will use Addictive Drums 2 to trigger the audio.
4. When you do this the Addictive Drums 2 window should pop up. You should drag the MIDI mapping we made for it onto the window. It's available here.
5. Finally you'll be able to press record in Ableton, do some playing in Aerodrums and play this back within Ableton (no need to have Aerodrums running once the recording is made).

Good luck and let us know if you have any problems.
