Mounting stand for PS3 camera

Mounting stand for PS3 camera

Easy enough. Have seen this in some videos. What stand or mounting brackets did you use to mount the camera+lens in order to position it in front of you. I could of course continue with a chair/stool, but would be nice to have an option. Would the regular mounting clip for the PS3 along with a mic stand work somehow?

I use an old camera tripod and some industrial velcro, with the camera stuck to the plate of the tripod - very adjustable in this arrangement.

It's quite important that the camera is at the correct height, especially if you're using the preset drum kits. I have seen some people use that PS3 mounting clip in videos as well and they have the camera mounted above their monitor which we don't recommend. I've also heard of people attaching the camera to a mic stand, a music stand and a cymbal stand.

What we have used ourselves in the past is this lamp stand from IKEA:

You can unscrew the top tube and you're left with a stand of the correct height. You'll just need to duct tape the camera to the top which is very easily done.

Solved.

Since I want to use it with ease in a remote location I use a round base mic stand and attach a tray on the side. Height easily adjustable, and the camera is like glued when using some Blu-Tack underneath:

I tape it to a practice pad sitting on a snare stand.

Hi,
I've read all the comments here and combined some ideas.
This is my setup now. Very easy and comfortable to use.
Lamp stand NOT, from IKEA and PS3 mounting bracket.
Before that i was using a little table and it was too risky, because of great chance of camera falling from it.

Richard and JRC - thanks for the ideas :)

Very nice job! Those IKEA NOT lamp stands are a great option.

I use a camera stand from hama (not expensive, some 15 bucks) and used some hot glue to stick the camera to it. As I mainly use Aerodrums at home this is a good solution. If I took my Aerodrums around quite a lot I think the idea with the velcro is a very good one.
