I had no time this week, but I do now and I will have something to show tomorrow.

I also found this and that would be very interesting to be able to get one and try it.

IR Experiment.
Sadly my IR’s were not bright enough, so I will have to remove the IR filter from the PS3 eye camera. I will actually just purchase the lens without the filter for 4$
Hello. Can you tell me where to buy a lens without an IR filter? Can find such a thing on web.

Thank you.
Third delivery of cam got me lucky to have one which i could modify.
Looks good without IR filter and piece of floppy disc.

Now trying to find some sweet IR LEDs...

Second question. The original Aerodrums LED thing seems to have some lens in the middle. Is this a needed thing?

Yes the field of vision from the lens is critical to correct operation. You do have one right!?

Looking fwd to seeing any complete IR setup.

Currently I made a cap with a shade on i can slap on and off my noggin as needed, works OK!

That Optek light looks like the one to get. The SMD ir LEDs have a 100 degree fov. This is very similar to the SMD LEDs that are in the provided aerodrums light so should shine enough to reach your feet.

Looking forward to seeing your setup!

Hi, the original lens is needed but it’s not actually glued in. You can pop it out by pressing your thumb through the tube against the lens. My experiment was finished but sadly not working responsively enough. I only used 12 IR LED’s but I think the problem is the angle of each led. Mine are 30° each and now I am going to try out 5° and 18 IR’s.
I would really love to try the Optek ring as posted earlier, but they don’t manufacture them anymore and online I cannot find one.

Very Cool! Thanks for this, I had looked everywhere. Well I thought I did!
Minimum order is 2 pieces, so I will wait until the end of this month as that is going to be a little expensive after import duties and delivery and tax but I still would be willing to give it a go at the end of the month, as I will be tryingh something different this weekend.

Just chipping in here with a link I found for a different project altogether, but may be an avenue for experimentation:

http://www.stephenhobley.com/blog/laser ... i-control/

Scroll down the page to see a simple circuit for powering an IR LED - if it was small enough it may make a suitable option for a custom AD drumstick. This could dispense the need for a IR led ring though I am not sure how you would go about getting foot control if you dispensed with the camera mounted IR light source.
