Is it time to sell my V-Drums?

Post by althemusicwizard » Wed May 07, 2014 9:47 am

Simple enough question.....has anyone purchased Aerodrums and found it to be a direct replacement for their V-Drum setup? I've only ever used my V-Drum setup in the studio.

Hi there. I've gone from acoustic to v-drums and now trying Aerodrums. All forms all have their pros and cons. I wouldn't say this is a direct replacement. For me, my style doesn't allow for more intricate techniques like ghost strokes or very fast rolls on ADrums. I depend on the response of a drum head to get more nuance of rhythm. I use ADrums for quiet playing at home and for capturing midi, but if I'm playing out I'd use an acoustic kit or v-drums.

Some people are trying modifications to AD to integrate hardware, and I've been trying to use a v-drum snare in front of the camera to bounce off of... But the balls on the sticks are very fragile so it's not recommended.
