MIDI-In Function

Hi,

I really love the stock drum samples from aerodrums, so I’m curious if there is a possibility to control aerodrums via MIDI. So I would be able to use my e-drum to control aerodrums.

I know that you already implemented the MIDI-out function, but I’m not sure about MIDI-in. Is it already possible?

If not, I would appreciate if you could implement this function in to aerodrums.

Hi, to be honest we never considered this use case. The best way to support it would be through a VST plugin so that you could trigger the samples without running Aerodrums. While we don't have any plans to do this, you may be interested to know that the licensed samples that ship with Aerodrums are a subset of the samples from the NDK, which is purchasable from http://www.naturaldrum.com. I believe the NDK includes a VST plugin but I don't have any experience with this.

Hey,
I think it's strange a MIDI in functionality was not considered. I'm thinking of buying an aerodrums set but would like to record MIDI into a DAW, so I can have full control, but since I don't have a (expensive) drum sampler I would like to use the recorded MIDI to trigger the samples within aerodrums. It's a shame this cannot be done since I guess a large portion of what you pay for you are paying to get the samples.
If this is not possible at least it should be easy to record the audio out of aerodrums directly into a DAW and I have read somewhere on this forum this is only possible using some third party virtual audio cable software. Are there people having (positive or negative) experience with this setup or is everyone who is recording just using aerodrums as a MIDI controller in combination with another sampler?
