About shin markers and Aerodrums' beginning

Post by Sipaliwini » Tue Aug 12, 2014 12:29 pm

The last copies of our first batch of Aerodrums are selling as I write this. We are very grateful to our early customers for giving us faith that air-drumming has a bright future. We are getting ready to bring our second batch online. This will come with a change to the program:

Those of you who have been following the forum may recall that we mentioned an experimental feature aimed at supporting the heel-toe foot technique without a physical pedal. The idea was to allow you to wear both a foot and a shin marker on the same leg, and try to capture the heel hit with the shin marker and the toe hit with the foot marker. When we posted about it, we were getting pessimistic. Eventually, when we released the foot technique video, we did not feature it (you can see the video here: http://aerodrums.com/2014/05/aerodrums- ... ernatives/).

We decided that the solution to reliable heel-toe support was to use a pedal in conjunction with a foot marker. Therefore, future updates to Aerodrums will no longer support wearing a foot and a shin marker on the same leg.

Related to this, we have been gathering more feedback from heel-up drummers and come to the conclusion that foot markers do a better job than shin markers with this technique. So we have decided to not include shin markers in the next batch of Aerodrums.

Of course, we are maintaining support for tracking shin markers for users of the first batch who are using them instead of foot markers. Here is what the change will consist of in the program:

-Based on your current choice of markers (e.g. foot marker on the left leg and shin marker on the right), the program will retain the correct pedal settings so that you don't have to adjust anything to keep drumming as before.
-In the "Drum kits" screen, the "Right leg marker" and "Left leg marker" check boxes will disappear
-In the "Pedals range" screen (reached by hitting "Adjust drums" in the drumming menu) , the "Right is shin", "Right is foot", "Left is shin", "Left is foot" buttons will never appear anymore

For users who did try to use a foot marker and a shin marker on the same leg, we can only hope that you reached the same conclusion as us.

Happy air-drumming,

Yann & Richard

Does this second batch also come with the lens and lamp together as one piece, as mentioned in a message in the support forum?
