Hi, this is because currently there is no file association set up between Aered and .aer files so you won't be able to open them by double-clicking on them.

You should open .aer files by either dragging and dropping them onto the Aered window or using the 'Open File' button within Aered.

This is very big task that requires a complete rewrite of the notation formatting algorithms. We had done some work towards it but it got paused due to other product development priorities. Our development team is small and we have just not got around to doing this yet. I'm sorry.
